Upgrade toilets at Mayo mountain or parking charges will be suspended

A PLAN must be put in place to upgrade the toilets at Croagh Patrick.

To 'encourage' some positive action, a local councillor has suggest parking charges in Murrisk be suspended if there's no progress.

Speaking at the annual Mayo council budget meeting, Councillor Peter Flynn said Murrisk is the only car park outside of the big towns where charges apply. Parking at other popular visitor locations in the county is free.

Despite this, the toilets have still not been upgraded.

He told management if a clear plan for the toilets is not available early next year he will be proposing that parking charges be suspended in Murrisk.

Councillor Christy Hyland agreed the toilets have to be dealt with.
