Passing of Bridie Ring evokes sense of great loss in west Mayo

The death of Bridget (Bridie) Ring (née Brennan), Tullycommons, Castlebar, and formerly of Altamount Street, Westport, has evoked an immense sense of loss.

In her 96th year, she was held in very high regard in the community.

A number of warm tributes have been paid to her on social media.

"She loved her golf and brought her beautiful, warm and fun presence with her to the clubhouse. We have fond memories of celebrating her 90th some years ago," stated a member of Westport Golf Club in a tribute on the death notices page, RIP.ie.

"What a great woman with a wonderful sense of humour," another tribute stated.

Predeceased by her husband Joe, brother Paddy and her parents William and Margaret, she is sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family: daughter Margaret Hughes, grandchildren Declan, Niall, Ruairi, Aoife, Colin and Iarla, son-in-law Padraig, grand-daughters in-law Martina, Orla, Donna and Yvonne, grand-son in-law Pat Ludden, great grandchildren James, Eoghan, Eabha, Cadhla, Deirbhile, Niamh, Sean, Maia, Kate, Oran, Sophie, Megan, Emily nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Deepest sympathy is tendered to the bereaved family on their loss.

Requiem Mass for the repose of her soul took place today in St. Mary's Church, Westport, with burial afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
