Death of former Mayo soccer star Ulick Bourke

The death has occurred of Ulick Bourke, Coolkeevane, Straide, Foxford.

Ulick was widely known and respected in Mayo soccer circles, having played with distinction for Straide & Foxford United for many seasons.

Many lovely tributes have been paid to him on social media.

One of his former team-mates, Frank Mulvihill, described Ulick as a Straide & Foxford United legend and "a true and loyal friend to everyone."

Others referred to his warm personality and the fact he was a real gentleman.

Predeceased by his dad Michael, Ulick will be dearly and lovingly missed by his beloved wife Esther, daughters Jessica and Ashley, son Keelan, their partners Jonathan, Nigel and Laura, adored grandchildren Kayla and Croía, his heartbroken mother Kathleen, brother Martin, sisters Ann, Martina and Kathy, niece, nephew, extended family, his neighbours and a wide circle of friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Ulick will repose at Clarke’s Funeral Home, Foxford, on Wednesday evening from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock.

The funeral will arrive to the Church of St. Peter and Paul, Straide, on Thursday for Funeral Mass at 11 o’clock.

The funeral will proceed afterwards to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan, for Committal Service at 3 p.m.
