Mayo GAA wants supporters to stay off new pitch surface after games

The use of Hastings Insurance McHale Park is be limited, Mayo GAA has announced.

The chairman of Mayo County Board, Seamus Tuohy, said the number of games taking place at the Castlebar ground will be reduced this year in order to let the new playing surface develop fully.

He also asked everyone to co-operate in helping keep supporters off the field at the end of games played there, starting with tonight's Allianz National League fixture between Mayo and Galway at the venue.

It has been a tradition for Mayo supporters to meet players on the pitch after big matches to get photographs taken with them as well as obtaining autographs.

However this practice is now being discouraged.
