Mayo student awarded Intel scholarship

A MAYO student has received a prestigious scholarship award from Intel.

Intel Shannon presented Paul Whelan Memorial Scholarships to three students studying technology and engineering courses at the University of Limerick.

Recipients included Sean Ruane, from Castlebar, who is studying electronic and computer engineering at UL.

The scholarship is awarded in memory of one of Intel's employees, Paul Whelan, and endeavours to help outstanding students throughout their college course through internships and monetary support.

The company also presented 13 Women in Technology scholarships. This scholarship programme aims to encourage a new generation of high-achieving women to take up the challenge of a career in science and technology and to empower them by fostering educational opportunities.
