Humanist Association accredits new celebrant in Mayo

The Humanist Association of Ireland (HAI) has announced a new celebrant for Co. Mayo.

Ruth Healy lives in Castlebar with her husband and two children.

Ruth has achieved the high standard required in her training as a Humanist celebrant and she is now a legally registered marriage solemniser, listed on the Register of Solemnisers in Ireland.

This means that Ruth can legally marry couples and can carry out ceremonies at a host of hotels, restaurants, museums, galleries and other landmark locations around the country that have held humanist ceremonies over the years.

As well as servicing Co. Mayo, Ruth will also be available for ceremonies in Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo.

Ruth is fully accredited to carry out all ceremony types, including weddings, namings, vow renewals, funerals, memorials and milestone ceremonies.

She stated: "Humanism is all about celebrating our lives as free and loving and creative humans.

"That’s why we offer non-religious humanist celebrations, based on celebrating life and love as an alternative to a religious wedding, christening or funeral.

"Every ceremony we do is different because each one is built around the person or the couple.

"That makes each event unique and meaningful, with words, readings, music, day, time and even the location all chosen by the individuals to represent their love, feelings and experiences."

Along with her other celebrants throughout the country, Ruth is available to help individuals, couples and families create a meaningful ceremony for their personal occasion.
