On-road section of new west Mayo greenway 'lethal'

A SECTION of the new greenway between Murrisk and Bertra has again been highlighted as dangerous.

The route comes out onto the main road for around 100 metres and numerous complaints about safety have been received.

Local Councillor Christy Hyland said this section of roadway is 'lethal', with people, including young children on bikes, having to come out onto the road before returning to the greenway.

Traffic approaches at speed and it is very dangerous.

Signage is needed to try and slow motorists down, he told a Westport-Belmullet Municipal District meeting.
