Approval for two Mayo social housing schemes
MAYO Fianna Fáil Senator Lisa Chambers has confirmed the approval in principle for two turnkey social housing schemes in the county.
The first scheme consists of five social homes at Mark C Henry Lane in Charlestown, while the second scheme comprises four social homes at Market Street in Kilkelly.
Said Senator Chambers: “I'm delighted to see confirmation of these two housing schemes for Mayo. These nine homes will be a welcome boost for the county as we move forward in delivering social, affordable rental, affordable purchase and private homes.
“The Housing For All programme is an ambitious plan that aims to provide sustainable, affordable housing solutions for families across Ireland. I fully support the government's efforts to address the housing crisis, and I am pleased that these two social housing schemes are a part of that plan.”
The approval of these schemes is a positive step forward after a further 13 affordable purchase homes in Westport were approved by government in December.
She added: “I want to thank Minister O'Brien for his work on delivering these projects. I'm now focused on working with the minister, the department and Mayo County Council to make progress on an affordable purchase scheme in Castlebar where it is much needed.”
