Mayo county town's tree of remembrance

CASTLEBAR Rotary Club have extended their thanks to all the members of the public who supported the Rotary Tree of Remembrance which was located on Hopkins Road, Castlebar, during the week leading up to Christmas.

Once again, it proved to be a great success with all funds raised donated to Mayo Cancer Support Association and Castlebar Social Services Centre.

The Rotary Club would like to thank the following businesses for their support: Dunnes Stores, Sheridan Electrics, Harvey Norman, Thornbrook Construction and Mayo Leisure Point.

Rotary Club president Willie Geraghty, commenting on the success of the event, said: “The members of Castlebar Rotary Club were delighted to organise this unique event as it afforded people an opportunity to remember their loved ones in a very tangible way while at the same time supporting the important work of two deserving local charities.”

He also thanked all the volunteers who gave of their time during the busy Christmas period to man the tree.
