Lighting needed at north Mayo funeral home

LIGHTING is needed at the funeral home in Crossmolina before there is a fatality at the location.

The situation could be remedied with the installation of five lights, local Councillor Michael Loftus told a meeting of Mayo County Council.

At large funerals people are queuing on the N59, he highlighted.

Councillor Loftus was told the area is not showing up as a high collision location.

“If one person is killed, then we will see some action,” he commented.

Councillor Loftus implored the council to do something as someone is going to get killed.

Director of services Tom Gilligan said they had spoke to TII and the local engineers, but it is not in the programme at this time.

Councillor Loftus told the meeting: “Ye'll take responsibility when someone gets killed.”
