New Mayo bridge on N17 has opened today

THE new bridge on the N17 over the Meelickmore junction in Claremorris has opened to the public, Mayo County Council has confirmed this afternoon.

This removes the diversion which was in place over the last 12 months and access to the town of Claremorris and to Meelickmore is now significantly safer.

The route also serves traffic coming from Ballinrobe and further afield, providing access to the N17, the core north south road link on the west of Ireland, linking Donegal and Sligo through Claremorris to Galway and Limerick.

Mayo County Council has extended thanks to the businesses and people of Claremorris for their patience and cooperation during the construction works.
