Westport AC athletes shine at provincial schools cross-country

WESTPORT AC athletes were among the winners and medallists at the at the 123.ie Connacht Schools’ Cross Country Championships as they got through to the All-Ireland finals on Sunday, March 11, in Waterford.

There was individual gold for Padraig Corduff, silver for Ethan Doherty and bronze for Ruairi Hollywood in the boys race, which won them team gold for Rice College.

Individual gold and silver were won also at minor girls level as Freya and Holly Renton helped Sacred Heart School claim team gold, with other Westport AC members Erin Walsh and Eimear Jennings, who put in a phenomenal run.

Maud O’Reilly and Ailbhe Duffy ran a great race in the junior girls and helped Sacred Heart win another team gold for the junior girls. In the intermediate girls race, Erica O’Driscoll has also qualified for the All-Ireland finals.

Hank Baxter did Westport AC proud too in his race too.
