Mayo's The Yoga Root announces new workshops and courses

THE Yoga Root, located at The Quay in Westport, is excited to announce a range of workshops and courses that cater to yoga enthusiasts or those of you curious to give it a go this spring.

On Saturday, March 11, the studio will be hosting a Yoga for Pain and Posture Workshop. Led by expert yoga instructor Derrick Harshberger, attendees will gain new insights into their posture and learn effective skills to find relief from pain. The workshop will explore the relationship between breathing, posture, and pain, and attendees will discover ways to improve their breathing and movement patterns, leading to a more comfortable and pain- free life.

Expecting mothers can join the Prenatal Yoga Workshop on Saturday, March 18, hosted by Elizabeth Potts. The workshop is suitable for all trimesters and yoga experience levels, and attendees will enjoy a prenatal yoga flow. The flow will help ease the aches and pains of pregnancy, improve circulation, and even help with sleep. Attendees will also learn breathing techniques that can help manage anxiety and clear their minds, benefiting both the mother and baby.

The workshop will conclude with a lovely and relaxed meditation session, and healthy, tasty snacks.

On Sunday, March 19, the studio will be hosting a special Mother's Day Sound Bath from 2 to 3 p.m., where attendees can immerse themselves in high-frequency sounds and good vibrations that heal their bodies, mind, and soul. The session will be led by Melanie from The Sidhe Space, and attendees will experience full body relaxation, heart-centred meditation, and a series of sounds, including Tibetan Singing Bowls, Gong, Ocean Drum, and Koshi Chimes designed to rebalance their energy system.

For those who want to really zen out a Restorative Workshop will take place on Saturday, March 25, and will use different yoga techniques for quieting the nervous system, facilitating comfortable movement, balancing the heart chakra, and connecting to attention and awareness. The workshop is perfect for beginners and experienced yogis alike looking to feel more at peace, unravel tension, improve vitality, and boost resilience.

For those looking to start their yoga journey, the Intro To Yoga six-week course starts on Wednesday, April 5, at 6 p.m. Led by Neil Douglas, the course is designed for beginners and those already practising yoga who wish to revisit the foundations.
