Water connection for west Mayo community proceeds to tender

A Mayo TD has been given an update on the €6.2 million Murrisk community water connection project.

Deputy Alan Dillon outlined: “Progress has been made in delivering the Murrisk community water connection, with the installation of the distribution of mains gone to tender.

‘This is great news for the 600 to 700 homes in Westport.

"These homeowners have put up with shocking water conditions over the years.

"The new Distribution Main network will involve the installation of approximately 29km of main, ranging from 32mm to 90mm OD, with associated valves and fittings, and all works are to be carried out as per the Irish Water’s Water Infrastructure Standard Details.

“The cost of the project is €6.2 million, with €5 million being provided by the State. I look forward to hearing a tender has been approved and a start date confirmed.

‘I want to congratulate the members of the Murrisk Community Water Connection Committee, local councillor Peter Flynn and Michael Ring TD and everyone that has made their local contributions so the water supply can be extended to the communities of Killadangan, Deerpark East, Murrisk, Glaspatrick, Thornhill, Lecanvey, Kilsallagh and Furrigal.”
