Mayo bridge floodlighting repaired ahead of St. Patrick's Day

After nearly six years, the floodlighting on the bridge between St. Gerald's College and Aldi car park in Castlebar has been restored ahead of St. Patrick's Day.

The news has been welcomed by local Councillor Ger Deere, who had highlighted and campaigned to have the lights repaired.

He said that he had the privilege when he was mayor of Castlebar in 2011 to officially open this bridge, which has been a huge benefit to traffic flow around the town.

"The floodlights are once again a lovely feature and the new system will allow for them to be changed to various colours to mark occasion such as All-Ireland finals, St. Patrick's Day, Darkness into Light and other such occasions," he added.
