Contrasting conditions for winter league golf finals in Castlebar

THE winter league finals at Castlebar Golf Club were played out in almost two different climates on March 19 last.

The early starters certainly made the best of the better conditions earlier on. By midday, the weather had really turned nasty and it was a real test for all golfers at that stage.

Well done to all the players who faced the tough conditions on the day. Afterwards, one of the highlights of the day was the captains' drive-in on the first tee (see above).

Ladies' captain Monica Joyce led the way, followed by the new club professional, Brían Carroll. They were followed by juniors captain Aaron Quigley and men’s captain Shane Quigley.

A great night's entertainment followed in the new restaurant now open in the clubhouse, run by Mill Lane Restaurant, with plenty of craic in the bar preceding the presentations for the ladies' and men’s competitions.
