Mayo represented at National brass band championships

Castlebar Concert Band is taking part in the prestigious National Brass Band Championships in Athlone today.

Under the musical direction of Debbie Clarke, the 30-strong ensemble will be competing at the Dean Crowe Theatre in the Westmeath town alongside some of the leading brass bands in the country.

Castlebar will showcase three of their favourite pieces: Bluebell March, Hallelujah and The Marches of John Williams.

It promises to be a memorable experience for the band which is now based at the new Music West HQ at Breaffy Road Business Park in the county town.

Said Ms. Clarke: "We are really looking forward to the event and the members have worked very hard on their preparations."

The band's most recent performance was at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar, last Sunday for the Connacht SFC clash between Mayo and Roscommon.
