First section of new N5 in Mayo will open this morning

THE first section of the new N5 Westport to Turlough road project will open to traffic this morning.

The section opening is the Castlebar bypass, and it will open to traffic at 11 a.m.

The 10km section of the N5 is a 100kmh dual carriageway and it will extend from the roundabout on the Turlough Road to the roundabout at Pheasanthill, on the Westport Road.

The left in/left out interchanges at the N60 Breaffy Road and N84 Ballinrobe Road will also be opened at this time.
