Great interest in top Mayo golf society as new season starts

A great buzz surrounded the official start to the 2023 season for Tolster's Golf Society, which took place in their home club of Castlebar.

There was a brilliant turnout on the day, with some new and old faces welcomed by the captain for the year, Paul Harte, who would later feature in the prizes himself.

'Fish' Cunningham will take the chair as president of the society for 2023, while John Coyne remains on as secretary and Mark Tolster as handicap secretary. Gerry Tolster will remain the treasurer, with Neil Toner as the PRO. Sean Mangan, Fintan Morrin and Gerry Walsh complete the committee for the upcoming year.

Castlebar Golf Club was in pristine condition, as always, and there was a warm welcome for the local society to their local club. Everyone was keen to get the year off to a good start and some great golf was produced on the day.

Sean Mangan took top spot with a brilliant score after playing some excellent golf, and he was followed closely by Richie Feeney in second place, beating Paul Harte on the back nine.

In the visitors' prize, William McDonnell took first with a great score around the local club.

A great day was had by all and society captain Paul Harte said he was delighted to see a big support and it was a joy to see the number of players turning up on the day.

Tolster's Golf Society have a great number of outings spread out over the year in various locations and are always happy to see new members and visitors come along to play, enjoy the day and the evening back in at base. All enquiries can be made at Tolster's Bar on Spencer Street, Castlebar.
