Plan sought for high priority south Mayo junction

A LOCAL councillor wants to see a plan drawn up for the Brize/Facefield junction in south Mayo.

Councillor Richard Finn has requested the area engineer to consult with the roads design office on upgrading the junction on the N60. He wants to see a blueprint drawn up so they can then seek funding for the works.

The councillor brought the matter before a Claremorris-Swinford Municipal District meeting by way of a notice of motion.

This project is a high priority for many people in what is a high collision area, Councillor Finn said. He knew there is no funding available for it at the moment but how could there be when there was no blueprint for it, he asked.

He wanted the council to get the ball rolling on it, and hence the motion, which was seconded by Councillor Tom Connolly who said the junction needs to be addressed for safety reasons.
