GAA President Larry McCarthy at a GAAGO event

Mayo manager annoyed over “buffering” on GAAGO

The potential lag problems online streaming services often come with could cause an uproar for Mayo fans on Saturday.

Particular concern is being expressed by rural publicans who fear their network connection just won't be up to speed.

At a press briefing on Friday morning Kevin McStay went on to explain his own struggles using GAAGO in the country’s capital.

“One free Sunday, up with my wife in Dublin. I wanted to watch Dublin v Kildare, trying to watch it in the hotel and the buffering, (is that what you call it?), you click and you miss a goal.”

During the previous GAA paywall outrage, when the decision was made to sell the rights to Sky Sports, it was at least still on television.

You’d expect to see the match above the counter of a bar or in a neighbour's house. No such certainty in 2023.

Far from a ringing endorsement of the technology!
