Mayo sports clubs developing facilities

A NUMBER of sports clubs in Mayo are planning major developments to their facilities.

Kiltimagh Knock United have submitted a planning application to Mayo County Council for a new spectator stand at their grounds in Cloonlee, Knock.

Another football club, Castlebar Town, are proposing to construct an all-weather playing field including fencing and lighting at Rinshinna in Castlebar.

East Mayo Athletics Club are proposing to develop a new athletics facility comprising of a six-lane running track, including sprint lane, a long jump area, javelin and shot putt area, along with floodlighting. The facility will be located at Lowpark in Charlestown and plans are before the council for approval.

In an approved application, Bohola Moy Davitts GAA Club has been given the go-ahead for the construction of a new gymnasium on their club grounds in Foxford.
