Two contractors appointed to long-awaited west Mayo water project
A Mayo TD has confirmed that two contractors have been successfully appointed to carry out the works for the Murrisk Community Water Connection.
Deputy Michael Ring stated: “I am very pleased to be able to confirm that two contractors have been successful with their tenders for the Murrisk Community Water Connection.
"Winters Contractors from north Mayo have been appointed for contract number one so to speak and this is for the main line along the main road from the junction of the West Road and Pound Road to Kilsallagh.
“Carty Contractors, Collooney, have been appointed for contract number two for the distribution mains throughout the hinterland from Belclare to Bouris”.
Deputy Michael Ring continued: “The two contracts will run concurrently with Murrisk Community Water Connection being charged up every three kilometres so that water can be flowing very quickly.
“The appointment of the two contractors is a huge step forward in this project. I believe this will move this project forward at pace.
"I wish to commend Chris Grady, chairperson, and all of the committee on their hard work on bringing this project forward another huge step.”
