Prolific Mayo marksman Cillian O'Connor is ready to return to action for Mayo in the All-Ireland SFC series after his recent injury setback.

Manager Kevin McStay has confirmed that he could have been involved on yesterday's victory over Louth.

He explained: “Cillian could have been involved.

"But the medical team felt it might be better for him to wait a little longer. So, he will be back sooner rather than later."

With regard to his brother Diarmuind not featuring in yesterday's match, McStay said: “He was selected to play. However, he got a late knock so we decided to rest him.

"It is not serious, and he will be back for the next game.”

McStay said he expects the final Group One match against Cork will be played in Ennis.

“It is be where he powers that be decide and, to us, it doesn’t matter where it is played,” the Mayo manager added.

There is also speculation it could be staged in Tullamore.
