Temperatures are set to soar this weekend despite fears of rain

June has been an incredible month for sun lovers, while farmers are already looking for a drop of rain as many have had their first cut of silage season and grass is now looking dry.

Tomorrow Friday, June 9 will start off fine and dry with early spells of sunshine. Cloud will thicken towards the afternoon making the sunshine hazy at times.

Highest temperatures of 20 to 25 degrees. Overall it is expected to be a warm and humid day with some rain showers expected.

Friday night will possibly be the most hot and humid of the year. It will be dry in many areas and partly cloudy with isolated showers, mainly in the west and south.

Temperatures will stay in the mid-teens for much of the night, coolest in the north with lows of 11 or 12 degrees here.

However, the Carlow-based meteorologist Alan O’Reilly has bad news for farmers as rainfall is expected to be minimal over parts of Mayo.
