Modular extension confirmed for east Mayo school

FUNDING has been granted for an additional mainstream classroom at an east Mayo national school.

Deputy Alan Dillon has received confirmation from the Department of Education that a modular building has been granted for an additional classroom at St. Attracta’s National School in Charlestown.

He explained: “I am delighted that initial project approval for this extension has been granted to the school. I will continue to work with the school staff and board of management to ensure additional accommodation for mainstream and those with special educational needs in 2024.

“I am committed to ensuring the further development of this school into the future to meet the needs of the local community.”

He added: “I want to wish principal Brian McDermott, his staff, pupils and board of management the very best as they come to the conclusion of another school year.”
