Thunderstorm alert for Mayo upgraded to status orange

THE status yellow weather warning issued earlier today by Met Éireann has been upgraded.

A status orange thunderstorm warning is now in effect in Mayo up until 6 p.m. this evening.

Thunderstorms and very heavy showers are producing significant rainfall accumulations over short time periods, Met Éireann is reporting.

Possible impacts include flash flooding, difficult travel conditions and power outages.
