County town housing proposal under appeal

PLANS for a new housing development in Castlebar are to be adjudicated on by An Bord Pleanála.

A decision to grant permission for a 38-unit development at Ballynaboll South, at the existing Manor Village estate, has been appealed.

There were no formal objections when the case was before the council but a number of observations highlighted concerns about increased traffic and safety at the location.

Now, an appeal against the grant of permission has been submitted to An Bord Pleanála, while the developers are also appealing some conditions.

A decision is due by mid-October.
