Achill lifeboat open pop up shop

THE first ever lifeboat shop has opened on Achill Island.

The Achill Island RNLI's fundraising pop up shop is located at Keel, across the road from the Gala supermarket.

It will be staffed by fundraising branch members and their helpers, with an array of gifts and clothing for all ages to browse and buy.

Local Councillor Paul McNamara had the honours of cutting the tape to mark the shop's official opening.

The event was the culmination of a longstanding dream for the local dedicated fundraising branch to open the first ever lifeboat shop on Achill. That dream was realised through the much hard work of members and supporters and the generosity of many people.

Achill RNLI has extended thanks to everyone who supported the project.

At the opening, Councillor McNamara spoke at length on the importance of the lifeboat service in Achill and his admiration for the dedication of the volunteer crew members.

The shop is open most days between 12 noon and 6 p.m. Your purchase will support Achill Island RNLI lifeboat in their invaluable work saving lives at sea.
