New home for sensory Cubbie at Mayo football club

PLANS to install a Cubbie sensory hub at Manulla Football Club are progressing.

The home for the Cubbie arrived on site yesterday morning and the crew from Steeltech Garden Sheds soon had the structure in place.

Manulla FC is the first football club outside the Aviva to install such facility so that everyone can come and enjoy events at the club.

The new sensory hub will to help facilitate club members and the wider community engage in sport and participate fully in daily activities.

The Cubbie is a space where children, teenagers and adults can balance their sensory needs, allowing them to self-regulate in a safe and comfortable environment.

In a social media post, the club reflected: “The great work going on in the background by dedicated volunteers is soon to be of benefit to so many and will see another stage of the club's development plan become a reality.”

It was also fitting that the home for the Cubbie arrived just as Mayo Autism Camp move in for the start of their very popular summer camp at the club, which kicks off this morning (Tuesday).

The club extended thanks to all who have donated to the fundraiser, sponsors and volunteers involved in the Cubbie project.
