Memorable trip to Carne for top Mayo golf society

Tolster's Golf Society, Castlebar, hit the road and landed in Belmullet to play the amazing Carne Golf Club last Thursday.

Carne Golf Links is one of the finest courses in the country and many at Tolster's Golf Society travelled for the special day.

Every year the society tries to get away for a day/night, and it ranks as one of the many highlights of the season.

There was a great turnout and the golf was enjoyed by all who journeyed north. One man who enjoyed it that bit more was John Cafferkey, who took first place. It's a very challenging course and to be in the top finishing positions, let alone first, is a major achievement.

In seconnd place was society president Mr. 'Fish' Cunningham, to rapturous applause, and following them home in the prizes was the hardest working man in the society, Mark Tolster.

In the visitors' section, Mick Lohan took top spot with some amazing golf displayed on the day.

The away day is a major success and is just one of the brilliant advantages of playing as a member or guest in the society. Next year promises to be even better.

CAPTAIN'S DAY
