Mayo musicians perform live on TG4 from Fleadh Cheoil 2023
Fleadh Cheoil returns to Mullingar for 2023 – back to where it all began in 1951. TG4 will be ‘Fleadh Cheoil Central’, broadcasting four live shows on August 10, 11, 12 and 13 full of the very best of Irish song, music and dance.
The station will also be livestreaming some of the competitions on its player (www.TG4.ie), and be sure to follow @TG4TV social channels for behind-the-scenes action and music in Mullingar, or join the conversation online using #Fleadh2023.
To compete at the All-Ireland finals, you must first qualify through your province. In the past four weeks, presenters Doireann Ní Ghlacáin and Peadar Ó Goill have been travelling the length and breadth of the country, meeting some of the country’s finest musicians, some of whom were hoping to qualify for the All-Ireland competitions and all of whom will be landing in Mullingar at some point over the week-long festival.
Coverage from the provincial finals was broadcast on TG4 last Sunday in Fleadh 2023 Na Cúigí. In this programme, Doireann and Peadar took viewers on a trip across the four provincial finals in Ballina, Dublin, Tralee and Dromore to catch up with some of our top and emerging musical talent.
Among the musicians are some of Mayo's finest, including Gráinne Hambly from Mayo Abbey and Billow Wood from Ballina.
