Mayo Abbey Cookery School graduates celebrate
MAYO, Sligo and Leitrim Education and Training Board (MSLETB) has congratulated the graduates of Mayo Abbey Cookery School on their successful completion of the professional cookery training programme.
The talented graduates received their certificates of completion from Deputies Rose Conway-Walsh and Alan Dillon, marking a significant milestone in their professional development.
The graduates demonstrated exceptional dedication, commitment and culinary skills throughout their training programme, whether it was the scrumptious food produced for the graduation ceremony or the various events the students cooked for throughout the year.
Under the guidance of experienced tutors, they have acquired a comprehensive skill set that positions them for success in the culinary and hospitality sectors.
“This is exactly what we need to be doing in communities right across the country in order to be able to meet the workforce planning. To see the skills that you’re learning here, the practical things that you’re doing and the expertise that you’re getting that there’s an absolute and immediate demand for out there is just fantastic to see,” said Deputy Conway-Walsh.
Deputy Dillon noted: “It’s very important to have the likes of these LTIs involved to meet the skills needs that everyone is aware of. Without the likes of these skilled chefs we would have no hospitality sector or catering sector so it’s really important that these initiatives are supported and I also have to compliment MSLETB on the work that they do in identifying where we actually need to strengthen jobs into the future.”
LTI manager Mary Doran, MSLETB community officer Orla Ryder and coordinators/tutors Aisling Kilcullen, Miriam Lenihan and Ron Morrison bade their students hearty congratulation, on their hard work, determination and creativity and wished them every success in their future careers in the hospitality sector.
The QQI Level 4 Major Award in Culinary Skills equips graduates with key workplace skills including knife skills, plating, culinary skills as well as certificates in HACCP, manual handling and barista training.
MSLETB applauded graduates for their dedication, perseverance and passion for continuous learning, confident that their achievements will inspire future generations of learners and serve as a shining example of the value of quality education and training.
