Death of retired Mayo psychiatric nurse Martin Lavelle

The death has taken place of Martin Lavelle, Ballinagloch, Castlebar, and formerly of Castlebar Road, Westport.

He died peacefully yesterday in the wonderful care of the Mayo Hospice.

A retired psychiatric nurse at St. Teresa's in Castlebar, he was held in high regard in the community and news of his passing is widely mourned.

He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, daughter Deborah, son Gerard, brother Seamus (Australia), sister Mary (UK), son-in-law Damien, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Martin was predeceased by his brother Patsy and sisters Kitty and Margo.

His remains will be reposing at Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m.

Removal takes place from his home on Monday at 10.15 a.m. to the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem mass at 11 a.m.

Interment takes place afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
