An evening of storytelling and music in north Mayo

National Culture Night, which is organised by the Arts Council in partnership with local authorities and cultural organisations throughout the country, takes place today (Friday, September 22).

The aim of the initiative nationally is to celebrate the cultural and artistic richness of Ireland and to give communities an opportunity to partake in various activities.

In Erris, as part of the programme, Comhar Dún Chaocháin Teo, in conjunction with Gaeilge Iorrais, has organised an evening of storytelling and traditional music in Seanscoil Community Centre from 8 to 10 p.m. Tá fáilte roimh chuile dhuine.

Culture Night is delivered nationwide in cities, towns, villages and rural locations, as well as online. Last year, 742,000 people engaged in 1,700 Culture Night events.

This evening, doors will open later and special and unique events will be specifically programmed at participating locations throughout Mayo and Ireland, including Seanscoil Community Centre in Erris, north Mayo.

Thanks to the continued support of the Arts Council and local authorities, all activities are available to the public free of charge.
