Tributes to popular west Mayo personality on her passing

Warm tributes are being paid to Madeleine Jordan (née Atkinson), Micheal Davitt Park, Westport, and formerly of Kilmeena, whose death has taken place

Madeleine died peacefully on Thursday surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Raymond, sons Jim and Lee, brothers Bill and Oliver, she is deeply regretted by her sons and daughters Patrick, Mary, Sheila, Anne, Margaret, Rose, Joe, Vincent, Catherine, Michelle and David.

She is also sadly missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended Jordan and Atkinson families, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to bereaved family on their loss.

The deceased was a long-serving member of the Western Branch of the Irish Patchwork Society. She was also a member of the Octagon Quilters, Westport.

One stated: "What a wonderful woman Madeleine was, a real force!

"We will always remember her with admiration and fondness when we are enjoying her beautiful and unique patchwork quilts."

Another said: "She was such a talented and joyful person to meet, always full of inspiration and so willing to share it. She will be sadly missed."

A further tribute said: "Madeleine was a lovely lady, forward thinking and helpful. May she rest in peace."

Reposing in Navin's Funeral Home, Westport (F28 XR61) on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral arriving at St. Mary's Church, Westport, at 12 noon on Monday for Requiem Mass at 12:30 p.m.

Burial takes place afterwards in Myna Cemetery, Kilmeena.
