Tributes to much-loved Mayo teenager on her passing
The death of 19-year-old Katie Walsh, Kilkenny Cross, Castlebar, has evoked a sense of tremendous sadness and loss in the community at large.
Katie died peacefully on Sunday, surrounded by her loving family, in the exceptional care of the staff at the Mayo Hospice.
She was beloved daughter of Anne-Marie and Enda and much-loved sister of Sarah and Emily.
Katie will also be sadly missed by her cousins, aunts, uncles, relatives and her wide circle of friends.
Sympathy is tendered to the bereaved family on their loss.
Warm tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media where she was described as 'precious' and 'beautiful'.
One stated: "Katie has left a legacy of kindness and fun behind her. She will be remembered for her smile and her sense of fun."
Another said: "I was a friend of Katie's in St. Joseph's Secondary School. She would always greet me in the corridors and was somebody who was easy to chat to."
Reposing in Kilcoyne’s Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, tomorrow (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m.
Katie’s funeral will arrive at St. Aloysius' Church, Breaffy, on Wednesday for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. Afterwards she will be laid to rest in Breaffy Cemetery.
