Appeal to ban heavy vehicles on Mayo link road

AN appeal has been issued for a ban to be placed on heavy vehicles using the Derrywash Road which links the Ballinrobe Road with the old Westport Road outside Castlebar.

Councillor Martin McLoughlin has asked for signs to be put in place.

"There is no need for them to use this roadway since the since N5 was opened," he stated.

A national school and many private residences are located along the route.
