MARY POWNALL, BALLINA

Mary Pownall (née Geraghty), 50 Childers Hights, Ballina, and formerly of Cross Wallace West, Binghamstown, Belmullet and Gocham, Nottingham, England.

Predeceased by her husband Ernest and her siblings Pat, James, Annie, Peggy and Mattie.

Beloved mother of Philip (Nottingham, England), Martin (Ballina), Paul (Loughborough, Leicestershire, England) and Andrew (Ballina). She will be sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, brothers John (Dundalk, Co. Louth) and Michael (Birmingham) and Kathleen Kelly (Banagher, Co. Offaly), nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Remains reposing at her residence at 50 Childers Heights, Ballina on Friday evening from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 noon until 9 p.m. Funeral will arrive at St. Patrick’s Church, Ballina, on Sunday for Funeral Mass at 12 noon with funeral proceeding to Cross Cemetery, Binghamstown, Belmullet, arriving at 2.30 p.m.

EILEEN O'TOOLE, KILMEENA

Eileen O’Toole (née O’Malley), Assumption Villas, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and formerly of Kilmeena, Westport.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Jimmy, her sister Anne and brother Paddy. Eileen will be forever loved and dearly missed by her children, Liam, Dan, Mary, Ann, Shay and Martha, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, her adored grandchildren, Natasha, Sharona, Daryl, Jason, Neil, Avril, Michelle, Jennifer and Ashling and her very dear great-grandchildren, sister Martha (U.K.) sister-in-law Teresa, nieces, nephews, relatives, her many friends and good neighbours.

Reposing at her son Dan’s home at 9 Assumption Villas on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Eileen’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Cathedral of Christ the King followed by burial in Ballyglass Cemetery.

FR PHILIP MCSHANE O.P., WESTPORT

Fr Philip Bernard McShane O.P., Dominican Community, Tallaght and formerly Tuam and Westport.

Deeply regretted by his brother John, sister Kathleen, sister-in-law Mary, niece, nephews, relatives, Dominican brothers and sisters, Priory Institute colleagues and wide circle of friends.

Reposing in the large parlour of St Mary’s Priory, Tallaght, from 3.30 p.m. on Friday, October 20.

Removal on Friday, October 20 to St Mary's Priory Church, Tallaght , arriving for 5.30 p.m.

Funeral on Saturday, October 21, after Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. followed by burial in the Community Cemetery.

ELLEN LEE, CLAREMORRIS

Ellen (Eileen) Lee (née Higgins), Clydagh, Headford, Co. Galway, formerly of Gaelcarraig Park, Newcastle, Galway and Tulrahan, Brickens, Claremorris.

Ellen is predeceased by her husband John Joe, son Patrick and daughter Marie.

Deeply regretted by her family, sons Michael, Robert and John, daughter Helena, daughter-in-law Caroline, grandchildren Megan, Casey, Katelyn, Abigail and Jack Patrick, sister Bridgie Garrett (UK), brother Vince Higgins (UK), sisters-in-law Nora Collins, Bridie Joyce, Margie Joyce and Dolly Carroll, brother-in-law Pat Lee, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Carey’s Funeral Home, Headford on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. with removal at 6 p.m. to St. Mary’s Church, Claran.

Requiem Mass on Sunday at 1pm with burial afterwards in Cargin Cemetery.

WILLIAM GERALD GALLAGHER, BALLA

William (Bill) Gerald Gallagher, Balla.

Predeceased by his brother, James and survived by his siblings Margaret Gaffney (Rathcoole), Della Bateman (Bovingdon, England), Bernie Gallagher (Manulla), 15 nieces and nephews and 22 great nieces and nephews all of whom loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.

He will also be remembered fondly too by brothers from the Knights of St. Columba, the Catenians and parishioners of St. Thomas à Becket, Wandsworth where he was an active participant for 55 years.

Bill was awarded the Bene Merenti by Pope John Paul II and the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice by Pope Benedict XVI and was associated with numerous Roman Catholic Charities.

The Vigil will take place at St Thomas à Becket, Wandsworth on Wednesday, October 23 at 4.30 p.m., and a Mass with the Knights of St. Columba at 8pm on that evening.

His funeral will be at 12 p.m. on October 24 at St Thomas à Becket.

A Requiem Mass and interment of the ashes will take place at 2 p.m. on November 18 at St Cronan’s Church, Balla.
