Passing of retired Mayo pathologist Gerard Solan
The death has taken place of Gerard Solan, Curry, Castlebar and late of Kiltimagh.
He died suddenly yesterday at St. Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin.
Retired pathologist at Mayo University Hospital, Gerard was held in very high regard in the community at large.
Tributes are being paid to him on social media where he was described as 'a true gentleman' and 'a great friend.'
Predeceased by his parents Dudley and Mary (Carney), he is deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, sons Patrick and Michael, daughter Anne, sister Betty (Kiltimagh), brother Dudley (Galway), sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Killarney) and Louie Solan (Galway), brother-in-law Patrick Callaghan (Offaly), nephews, nieces, goddaughter Margaret, relatives, neighbours and friends.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.
Gerard’s remains will repose in the Mortuary at Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar, on Friday at 5.30 p.m. with removal at 7 p.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
Requiem Mass takes place on Saturday morning at 11.30 a.m. followed by burial in Kilkinure Cemetery, Kiltimagh.
