Approval for new social homes in Mayo county town

MINISTER for Housing Darragh O'Brien has confirmed that 33 new social homes have been approved in principle for Castlebar.

The homes will be located on the Turlough Road.

Welcoming the news, Senator Lisa Chambers said: “As a party and at the heart of Fianna Fáil is the belief and aspiration that everybody should have access to good-quality homes, located in the right places, to purchase or rent at an affordable price. The Housing for All Plan puts us on the pathway to delivering that objective and to meeting the housing needs of all our people.

“The plan is working and I was delighted to receive confirmation from Minister Darragh O'Brien that 33 new two- and three-bed social homes have been approved in principle for Turlough Road.

“This further demonstrates that Fianna Fáil in government is committed to ensuring that housing options are available in every part of the country.

“I look forward to seeing this project progress over the months ahead.”
