Mayo's Niamh Colleran is the People’s Pharmacist of the Year
Charlestown pharmacist, Niamh Colleran, has been announced as the People’s Pharmacist 2023 of the Year, in association with Panadol.
The very popular chemist, who was one of eight pharmacists from all over the country shortlisted for this prestigious award, was presented with her award by David Barrett (country manager of Haleon) when he made the surprise visit to Colleran’s Pharmacy in Charlestown to inform Niamh of the great news.
Speaking about this prestigious award, Mr. Barrett said Niamh was a very worthy winner.
“I’m lucky to work in an industry where friends, colleagues and customers make a meaningful difference to the lives of consumers and patients in our communities.
"Pharmacists all across the country are highly skilled healthcare professionals that are embedded in their local communities.
"On behalf of Haleon, it was a real privilege to be part of the Peoples Pharmacist Award, in association with Panadol, and present the award to a truly worthy winner, Niamh Colleran”, said Mr. Barrett.
He continued: “What made this even more special was the fact that the nominations came from the public, giving patients the opportunity to recognise their local Pharmacist and team.
"Niamh’s nomination called out her supportive and friendly approach, combined with true professionalism, in helping a local family to get through a really challenging time. Niamh’s approach really made an unpleasant and difficult health related situation so much easier.
“It was also great to meet up again with Paddy Colleran, Niamh’s father. Paddy is one of our Industry’s gentlemen.
"When I started out as a sales rep, Charlestown, and Colleran’s Pharmacy was my first call on the Mayo Journey.
"It was always a lovely way to start the week and great to see the energy and community spirit is still strong in Colleran’s.”
