Mayo communities mourn passing of 'a lovely, gentle lady'

The death of Kathleen Duffy (née Ruddy), Kilkenny, Castlebar, and formerly of Ardoone, Belmullet, has evoked a huge sense of loss in the community.

She peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was dearly loved wife of James, who died last August, and she was also predeceased by her parents Anthony and May and her sisters Una and Mary.

Kathleen will be forever missed by her daughters Kathryn, Maria, Noreen and Barbara, son James, brothers Paddy and Eamonn, sisters Bridget, Nora and Phyllis, sons-in-law Kevin, Rait, Olivier and Colin, daughter-in-law Kathy, her 15 grandchildren and her three great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many nephews and nieces as well as her extended family, neighbours and her wide circle of friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

A member of the catering staff at Mayo University Hospital for many years, warm tributes have been paid to her on social media where she was described as a 'lovely, gentle lady.'

Kathleen's funeral will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, tomorrow (Sunday) 11.30 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, followed by cremation in Shannon Crematorium, arriving for service at 4 p.m.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
