South Mayo estate take over raised with council

MAYO County Council has been asked to take the Árd Loughalisheen estate in Ballindine in charge.

The call came from Councillor Tom Connolly by way of a notice of motion, and he told management he wants a full report on this and the take over of the Mayfield estate in Claremorris in January.

On the motion, Councillor John Cribben said the residents in Ballindine are anxious for their estate to be taken over by the council, with Councillor Richard Finn saying numerous representations have been received.

In a written response to his motion, Councillor Connolly was told the council's planning office is currently finalising the taking in charge report for the Ballindine estate. Once completed, the council will then work with Uisce Éireann towards getting the outstanding works completed to allow the estate to be taken in charge.

He was told at the district meeting that the council is also working with the developer in Mayfield to try and move it along.

Councillor Richard Finn asked the council for an update on the present status of College Green estate, Kilbeg, Claremorris, in relation to taking in charge and an idea of a time-frame as to when the final surfacing of the roadway in the estate will be undertaken.

In reply to his motion, he was told the estate was taken in charge in 2013.

The area engineer is investigating a funding stream to complete the outstanding works at the estate.
