Death of gifted carpenter and lifelong Mayo GAA supporter Ray King
The death has taken place of Ray King, Harmony Heights, Castlebar, and late of Castlebar Street, Westport.
He died peacefully earlier today at Mayo University Hospital after a short illness.
A gifted carpenter, Ray skilfully built the stage sets for the Castlebar Song Contest when the event was in existence.
He was a prominent supporter of the Mayo senior football squad, travelling to matches at home and away for decades.
Ray also had a great affinity with Manchester United and made regular trips to Old Trafford.
He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Mary, sons Martin and Myles, daughters Nicola, Fiona, Rachel, Myles, Naomi, Katie and Charlotte, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters Mary and Kay, brother Gerard, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.
He was predeceased by his parents Katie and Brodie King, brothers Aiden and Martin, and sisters Patsy and Eveyln.
Ray will repose at Mayo University Hospital Mortuary (F23H529) on Friday evening from 4 p.m. with removal at 5.30 p.m. to St Mary's Church, Westport, arriving at 6.15 p.m.
Funeral Mass takes place on Saturday at 1 p.m. with interment afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery, Westport.
