Death of accomplished musician with strong Mayo family connections
The death of Georg Wolff, Stadthagen, Germany, is widely mourned in Mayo.
The deceased, an accomplished musician, conductor and composer, lived in Castlebar for many years, during which time he played with the Brose Walsh Band as a trombonist.
Aged 100, he was predeceased by his wife Breege (née Collins), late of Davitt’s Terrace, Castlebar).
He is deeply regretted by his nephews Thomas Collins (Castlebar), Frank Ward (Dublin) and John Ward (Barcelona, Spain), nieces Mary McDonnell (Turlough, Castlebar), Leslie Collins Eastman (UK) andAlison Collins (UK), brother-in- law Des Ward (Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath), grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives and friends and colleagues in the Bückeburger Jäger Big Band, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.
His funeral will arrive at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, tomorrow (Saturday) at 1.15 p.m. for Requiem Mass at 1.30 p.m.
Burial takes place afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
