Great sadness over death of popular Castlebar man Jimmy Munnelly

The death has occurred of James (Jimmy) Munnelly, Ballinaglough, Snugboro, Castlebar.

He died peacefully yesterday surrounding by his family in the loving care of the Mayo Hospice.

The deceased was a member of the maintenance staff of Mayo University Hospital for many years, a hard and dedicated worker all his life.

News of his passing has evoked a great sense of loss and sadness in the town where he was held in such high regard.

He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Margaret (also known as “Do Do”), sons Declan and Shane, daughters Sharon and Aisling and their partners, daughter-in-law Sinead Ruane, grandchildren Amber, David, Ava, Nathan and Mason.

Jimmy is also aadly missed by his heartbroken brothers Paddy, Eamon (London), and Stephen, sisters Mary Gallagher (London), Bridie Bourke (Clogher) and Ann (Milebush), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, partners, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

He was predeceased by his sons David and Francis and his parents Edward and Mary Munnelly, Milebush, Castlebar.

His remains will be reposing at his home (F23 CT11) on Friday evening from 5 until 7.30 p.m.

Removal on Saturday morning at 10.30 a.m. to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, for Requiem Mass at 11.30am.

Burial takes place afterwards in New Cemetery, Castlebar.
