Mayo county town mourning death of Sally Hopkins

The death of Sally Hopkins (née Heneghan), Newport Road, Castlebar, is deeply regretted in the county town.

She died peacefully after a short illness in the wonderful care of the staff of the Mayo University Hospital, Castlebar.

Sally is deeply regretted by her sons Páraic and Seán and her daughter Mary (Galvin), daughters-in-law Moira and Tanya, son-in-law Michael, grandchildren Matthew, Jonathan, Mark, Conor, Niamh and Patrick, sister Nell Lowe (Dublin), sisters-in-law Nora (Southend on Sea) and Margaret (Ballyhaunis) and her many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as her many friends at Abbeybreaffy Nursing Home, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered

She was predeceased by her husband Martin, infant daughter Martina, and her parents, brothers and sister in their heavenly home.

Many lovely tributes have been paid to her on social media.

"A truly beautiful and elegant lady who always showed love and kindness when we visited her," one stated.

"A beautiful, gentle lady who always had a welcoming smile," another said.

Reposing at the Coady Funeral Home this evening (Tuesday) from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with removal afterwards to the Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar.

Requiem Mass takes place at 12 noon on Wednesday with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery.
