Mayo artisan bakery business announces it's closing

THE popular Castlebar artisan bakery business Cake My Day is closing.

The award-winning business, located at Hopkins Roads in Castlebar, announced the news on its Facebook page this morning.

Proprietors Brian and Bernie Campbell explained in their social media post: 'It’s with mixed emotions that we share some heartfelt news. After 12 wonderful years of baking joy in Castlebar, Cake my Day will be closing its doors on Saturday, February 10th.

'This decision was not made lightly, it comes in the face of challenges that many small businesses like ours are grappling with. Unfortunately, the substantial rise in costs, from electricity to ingredients to rates, etc., this has created obstacles that we, despite our best efforts, find insurmountable.

'We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who has been a part of our journey. To our regular customers who made Cake My Day their go to spot, thank you for your support over the years, great memories and we appreciate you.

'As we approach our final day on Saturday, February 10th, we invite you to join us in bidding farewell. Our shelves will be stocked with all your favourite cakes and breads throughout the week and we’d love to see you one last time.

'With heartfelt thanks and a sprinkle of fond memories, Brian & Bernie Campbell.'
