Sight lines improved on east Mayo bypass

WORKS has been completed to improve sight lines at junctions on the Swinford bypass.

This section of the N5 has been the scene of multiple accidents over the years.

In one step to address road safety, following representations to TII and Mayo County Council, much needed clearance and cutting back works at the junctions along the route have been completed.

Councillor Adrian Forkan explained how sight lines have been greatly improved by the removal of up to 20ft of bushes and weeds along exits onto the N5.

These works, he said, are part of an action plan to make the six-kilometre Swinford bypass safer for all road users.

He expressed thanks to the area engineer, overseer and the council outdoor team for their work on improving safety at the junctions.
